You can pay one blue mana to give it a temporary boost of +1 attack power until the end of the turn, which might help you finish off an opponent’s creature if necessary, but generally, it’s best used as a sturdy wall to protect you while you develop your strategy. This card is particularly useful in slower, control-oriented decks where you want to stall the game and build up your resources, but it does have the downside of being unable to contribute to your offensive strategy directly.
