If Vine Kami is destroyed, you can use its Soulshift ability to return a Spirit card with mana value 6 or less from your graveyard back to your hand, allowing you to recycle your resources. You’d want to play Vine Kami in a deck focused on Spirits or one that can benefit from its ability to return other Spirits from the graveyard.
