Rift Bolt is a flexible damage-dealing spell that can either be cast immediately to deal 3 damage to any target or be suspended for just one red mana. If you choose to suspend it, you exile it with a time counter, and it will automatically cast itself on your next upkeep after one turn, allowing you to deal damage without spending additional resources at that moment. This can be particularly useful in decks that want to apply pressure while managing their mana or in situations where you're looking to deal damage over a couple of turns, but the downside is that if your opponent manages to remove it from exile or disrupt your upkeep, you won't get the damage.
